maligned >> we are looking at plenty of sunshine and the temperatures are going to be on the cooler side today. let's put this into motion. here's a look pitcher current conditions. the temperatures are in the upper 40's. in san francisco it is 48 degrees. san jose is at 43 degrees. santa rosa is at 33 degrees. we are looking at a mixture of sun and clouds today. the next form will be wednesday and thursday. also the weekend was also have a stronger storm. we will talk more about that coming up. >> while it rained just about everywhere in the bay area. kron four's dan rubin was able to find snow in the south bay.

snow on mount hamilton you should hurt because rain is in the forecast. >> dan ronan kron 4 news. >>ubin kron 4 news. >> here's a live look outside at the bridges. here is a look at the san mateo bridge. >> our final shot as the golden gate bridge. >> a developing story this morning-- napa police are revealing new disturbing details in the investigation of what led up to a three- year-old's murder. friends and family have identified the child as kaylee. the little girl was found dead in her bed at the royal garden apartments after officers carried out a welfare check. that check was requested by an anonymous caller saturday afternoon. police say it's unclear how long kaylee was dead before he body was discovered. neighbors told police that kaylee's mother sara

krueger and krueger's boyfriend, ryan scott-warner were seen leaving the apartment with luggage on foot about three hours before kaylee was found dead. a day later, the couple was spotted in el cerrito. >> during the initial stages we notice that she had a blunt trauma. she also appeared to have been sexually assaulted. >> police say both krueger and scott-warner have arrest records and a history of drug abuse. officers have also been called to their apartment before for possible domestic violence. the last time being as recent as last week. but krueger never pressed charges against scott warner -- who is not on the lease. both krueger and scott warner are charged with homicide, special circumstances murder, and assault resulting an autopsy is tentatively scheduled for today. as for kaylee's biological

father, he is currently in san quentin. we're told he has been made aware that his daughter has been murdered. >> back at the home where the homicide took place, the community came together and held a vigil for the 3 year old girl. kron 4's alecia reid was at the vigil with the latest. >> the gruesome discovery has left her family in mourning. a sea of people poured into this complex held in the honor of the three road. her grandfather as well as others were distraught. there were candles and a teddy bears left for she was found dead. neighbors tell us that they have no hurt and the mother says she was born. her boy friend, moved in about a year ago. although both of them are behind bars police continue to stand guard in front of this apartment where her body was found. >> felicia reid, kron 4

for passerbys it looked as though the tree's roots had rotted and the rain was the last straw. >> it has been a long time since we have received rain. it has been barely dry around here. it is good to get some. >> we love the rain. >> in terms of where rainfall is, we will have to do better. >> the soggy weather gave the bay area a chance to break out umbrellas, which haven't gotten much of a workout this winter. but many of those getting a little damp while walking around had smiles on their faces.because the rain feels good after having dry weather for so long. >> take a look at this.a rude awakening for these resident who live in this house-- after an s-u-v came barreling through their garage. it happened just before 7:30 last night on benedict court in san leandro. we are told no one was injured, and right now there is still no word on what caused the driver to lose control. >> a rousing, heart-felt

send-off for an olympic hopeful this week in san jose. >> it is a just so excited to have people on my side. i know that so many people--i just want to go and do exactly what i have been trained to do. i want to show everyone on what i can do. >> it is all going to work out, i hope. i am want to bring a lot of work with me. i am want to try to get everything done. my advice is to just work hard and believe that you can do it. anything can happen. you will have a chance to make it. just work hard to

believe. >> "that she will win." >> this was the packed gymnasium at san jose's mitty high school, where the entire student student, put together an olympic- sized send -off for their classmate polina edmunds. the 16-year-old sophomore is heading off to the olympic games in sochi, where she will be the youngest member of the women's figure skating team. edumunds has been practicing at the shark's ice in san jose, since she was just 20- months old. she was named to the team, following her stunning performance at the recent u-s national competition and says she can't wait to step on the ice in sochi. >> we are tracking some chilly conditions this monday morning and we may see fall outside. we are also attracting more storms. had it this way. i will have details when we continue.

must be. >> and that was the ruling by punxsatawney phil and while that may be good news for california. the nearly frozen crowd in pennsylvania wasn't too happy with the announcment. phil's prediction was frustrating especially for regions hit hard by this year's winter storms. the north east has been slammed with storm after storm blanketing the area with snow. r >> another 6 weeks of winter doesn't sound too appealing in the south either. that region of the country got slammed with a deep freeze and a few inches of snow that crippled several states including georgia, alabama and mississippi. a major winter storm moved through much of the central plains over the weekend. these pictures show what road conditions were like as oklahoma got hit. and in saint louis-- city workers readied salt trucks and plows. forecasters there are predicting at up to three to five inches of snow and sleet early this week. >> let's find out more about

with no issues. your bay bridge at this point is looking good. there are no problems and to san francisco and the golden gate bridge is 5 for those of you into san francisco. the line >> a former top aide to new jersey governor chris christie says the governor really did know about the lane closures on the george christie recently denied knowing that his staffers had allegedly intentionally closed access lanes on the bridge as political payback against fort lee's mayor. erin mcpike has the latest. >> chris chris state was not answering any questions. he polls with the icon. >> ladies and gentleman and >> not talking about the scandal bread in his future. this one from former appointee david. he is the

port authority official who stated that a christie staffer e-mail to him due to traffic problems and then shut down two lanes to the george washington bridge. this was for four days last september. >> i think, he is looking for some sort of immunity. >> in this letter his attorney once and evidence does exist. he had knowledge of these lane closures trip >> i think, we do not know that if he was born to indicate that the governor gave the order. >> as for best supporting evidence, he has no fifth amendment right not to disclose physical evidence that exists. they can get this without giving him broad immunity. >> but christie's team is doubling down. his lawyer confirmed that the governor said all along that he had absolutely no prior knowledge of the lane

closures. what ever his motivations were for closing down. the statement-- >> the first i ever heard about this issue was one that was reported to the press. >> this news conference in were nice, he stated that he did not learn the back story and that the lane closure may have been political retribution until more before. >> i knew nothing about this. i did not know anything until the started bay reported in the papers. i was told this was a traffic jam. >> all this comes as he was want to get positive information concerning the superbowl. >> edward snowden's story is about to hit bookstores. a book titled "the snowden files: the inside story of the world's most wanted man" comes out in the u- k this week. it's scheduled to be released in the u-s february 11-th.

the book by reporter luke harding from the british newspaper the guardian details the intelligence leaker's journey. snowden is currently holed up in russia---where he has granted asylum. >> authorities in greece are asking people to stay calm after a strong quake shook the island of kefalonia today. the u-s geological survey says the earthquake registered at a six-point- one magnitude. about ten people were slightly hurt.mostly by falling objects. roads are damaged and power is cut in some areas. a five-point-nine earthquake shook the same island about a week ago. >> south korea says north korea is agreeing to hold talks to discuss reuniting families separated by the korean war. last month, north korea agreed to start reunions for the first time in over three years. seoul's unification ministry says north korea wants to meet this week at a border village. they asked south korea to pick the date. north korea has recently toned down its negativity against south korea and has made a series of peaceful gestures. >> authorities now say 15

people died in north sumatra when mount sinabung erupted on saturday. the victims and at least three other injured people, were all in a village close to the volcano's crater. you can see people running from the ash cloud, trying to get as far away as fast as possible. plumes of ash spewed a mile into the sky.descending in a superheated cloud that made close to the volcano to escape. local search and rescue teams are conducted recovery operations today, searching for more possible victims. >> we will take a quick break. coming up, we will have more headlines. here is a live look outside shown in downtown san francisco. is it damp outside and we did have a nice weekend showers. i will have more on the forecast at 4:30 a.m..

in seahawk franchise history. a heart breaker for denver fans as the seattle seahawks steam-roller-d their way to victory 43 to 8. fans remained peaceful until a fire was started. you can see fans throwing furniture into the flames. at this time no inuries have been reported during the celebration. the streets of the emerald city bustled with fans. >> 110 million people watched the lop-sided game last night. favorite - boncos quarterback peyton manning - never getting off the ground thanks to a fierce seattle defense. going into half time the score was 22 to zip. and the bronco's morale stayed in the cellar until the final score of 43 to 8. and seahawks richard sherman?? he suffered an injury in the fourth quarter and returned to the sideline just in time for the celebration in sweats and on crutches. >> (music & singing)

>> at half-time. grammy award winning singer bruno mars brought a high-energy show to the largest of stages. he delivered hits like "locked out of heaven" and "treasure" along with a live band. there was some concern mars might not be able to hold up to the pressure of big game performance, but the 28-year-old wiped away the questions immediately. the red hot chili peppers also performed at the show. >> we asked our facebook fans what they thought of the halftime show. and here's what you had to say. >> toree said. wonderful! so well done. that's how a halftime show should be. no scandals, no lip syncing. just killer talent.

firefighters have put out a 2 alarm fire in west oakland. it happened at a home on 34th street around 2:00 a.m. this morning. the fire was under control less than an hour. no one was hurt. >> we are learning more details about how the investigation into the death of lynne spalding was handled. kron 4's scott rates show us some alarming findings of a newly released report. line for the first time we are looking into this investigation. and report out sunday showed that eight investigators, revealed that a doctor was instructed as san francisco general not to leave her side. so she was admitted september for a bladder infection and she was found dead in a stairwell. this was 17 days after she left her room. the report goes on to say that nurses were also

instructed to check on her every 50 minutes. it talked about the sheriff's involvement and that four deputies were searching the hospital stairwell and one of the deputies actually searched the grounds but not the stairwell. and >> the other deputies checked only a stairwell leading some unchecked. the family spokesperson had this to say " this report confirms what we have been saying since september 2013 when she disappeared that at s.f. general and the sheriff's department never took seriously the safety and welfare of her. neither did they take into consideration nor did they look for her during the 17 days that she laid dined, abandoned on the stairwell and ignored her calls. general and so far they did not release a response. >> scott rates, kron 4 news. >> a routine traffic stop ended in arrest for a menlo park man. police stopped pedro mendoza in belmont thursday night. mendoza was found with jewelry and other stolen property in the car. police arrested him for possession of stolen property, marijuana and driving without a license. >> a woman suspected of robbing two banks in menlo park has been arrested. police say jasmine sahib from hayward is thought to be responsible in robbing the banks in 20-13. two branches were robbed.a bank of the west and a u-s bank. in both cases, the suspect handed a note to the teller saying she had a gun and to hand over cash. the f-b-i assisted police in identifying the suspect. sahib was booked into the san mateo county jail on wednesday. >> expect to pay more for

parking at the larks arspur ferry terminals starting this morning. it will cost you $2 to park between 5 and 3. you can get a prepaid parking pass for $20. the parking fees go to pay for maintenance of a lot. if you do not pay to park in one of the more than 1800 spots available you will be fined $45. it will still be free to park their after 3:00 p.m. or on holidays. >> we will be right back.

>> welcome back. a man attempted to kidnap a *15- year-old boy on crutches* friday night at a u-c student housing complex in albany. police say the teen.not affiliated with the u-c berkeley. was walking on jackson street by the university village. a man in an s-u-v approached

the teen and grabbed him.he then tried to force him into the vehicle. the victim was able to get away without injuries. the suspect hasn't been located and police are still investigating the incident. >> petaluma police are investigating a case of suspected arson that happened over the weekend. residents at a home on aspen way were awoken to the smell of smoke saturday morning. police say the doormat had been set on fire. with what looked like a flammable liquid. the fire was quickly put out. part of the front door was damaged. linethe much needed rain has finally hit the bay area. kron4's maureen kelly went to several locations around the bay and show's us what it was like. >> sunday's rain storm was a time to break out something but most of us had thing stuck in our closet, our umbrellas. it caused a big post to form adding a challenge for drivers. behind the highway, take a look at what to 80 look
